Living in a city, we experience a good portion of our lives on the street, and as such attach similar feelings to our urban landscape as we once did the porches and backyards of our youth.
Swings and tree-houses give way to coffee shops and quiet shaded streets. A backyard creek evolves into a new social hub, a bar patio.
Here are some pics from my first couple months back in Knoxville from the summer of '08, and let's toast to another memorable summer.

Summer of Love

I have great memories of last summer. I had just bought my first road bike, a crappy yellow Schwinn, and rode it everywhere. My neighbors and I swam in the ghetto pool in Neyland Hills when we couldn't stand the heat anymore and we'd go jump in Meade's Quarry every now and then. With most of those friends in different cities now, I wonder what Summer '09 will bring. Maybe a little more sophistication? I hope not.
How funny. I was just thinking this morning about how the start of summer last year was about the time I fell in love with Knoxville. I can't wait to see what this summer brings!
ya - let's be sure to keep it as low-brow as possible.
That last picture is as smooth as an air hockey table.
